Wednesday Cover: Tarzan

My favorite movie ape man, Gordon Scott, graces this photo cover for Dell's Tarzan #92.

Except for Greystoke, the Legend of Tarzan, I've never watched a Tarzan movie all the way through. Read all the books though.

I've seen Greystoke, and as a kid growing up, my Dad used to like watching all the Johnny Weissmuller adventures. I used to enjoy them too. I guess they are pretty different from the books, which I have not read. But Dad used to say that Weissmuller was an Olympic swimmer, and in one particular water scene where it shows him swimming to save someone, it showed. Albeit, I think the film was sped up as well.

In WWII Dad had gone thru Africa to get to his main objective, the Invasion of Sicily and then, main land Italy. He had taken some photos of Africa of natives in their grass huts, and such, and listening to his stories and seeing those photos help form an appreciation for the Tarzan legend.
