Wednesday Cover: Mike Danger Redux

What the heck. Here's another Mickey Spillane's Mike Danger cover, drawn by Eduardo Barreto. I like this one a lot. We tended to do a lot of "movie poster" type covers on Danger because Eduardo was such a good graphic designer, and I – as editor – personally preferred those types of covers.

Too bad we had to obscure them with those huge UPC code boxes.

This one reminds me a bit of the Spider and the Robot Titans of Gotham.

it's great, indeedy...

can the upc code not be put on the back?

Mike Danger was such a great series! I loved it, and always followed the news in the lettercols about a movie eagerly. Too bad that never came to be.

laughingwolf;

Yes, UPC codes could have gone on the back, but our publishers – idiots that they were – decided against it.

Tanner – The property was optioned at least twice, once during the time it was published, and again a few years later. As you said – nothing came of it.

I love these covers! I've never had the chance to read the series, but it looks like its right up my alley. I gonna have to try and find copies.

I like the cover too, and this sort of book was like things I read, so I'll have to look for some of these books while on vacation in a comic shop or used book store. There are some good ones in Dallas.

Does someone get paid if a comic is optioned or only after it's a done deal and they are going to make a movie of it?
