Aside from the shaved head, I don't think there's much similarity. Staham is a British actor who has made a name for himself in Brit crime dramas and International action films.
He's really more of a Brit Clint Eastwood than Willis....
Well, I was referring more to the "man of few words, steely gaze" sort of persona. He's not much like Eastwood, really, but he's more Clint than Bruce WIllis...
I've never seen The Transporter series, but I've just gotten in the new Rambo & Casinoi Royale, so it looks like it'll be an action weekend. I like action films if they aren't too over the top, but when they start diving off bridges onto structures (Lethal Weapon 3) and leaping off tall buildings, I sort of have a hard time with leaps of logic.
Well, The Transporter films *are* over-the-top, and if you can't suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the ride, you probably won't like them.
Me, I love their Looney Tunes "reality" and Statham's characterization of Frank Martin, professional "transporter." It's the mix of Hong Kong-styled action scenes, international locations and hardboiled hero that really makes them interesting - and fun - for me.

Didn't know they were making this. I'll probably watch it, as long as Statham is in it.

I almost linked to the trailer myself. I'm looking forward to it as well!
Statham as an English Eastwood? Interesting. I've often thought he'd make a fantastic Judge Dredd. Maybe in a few more years...
