Wednesday Cover: Dejah Thoris

The most beautiful woman of two worlds, Dejah Thoris, princess of Helium, as drawn by the late, great Dave Cockrum for the cover of Marvel Comics' John Carter, Warlord of Mars #11.

Not coincidentally, I'm re-reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' Gods of Mars at the moment.

Beautiful. I have this issue.

Rannon Jystral from my Taleran novels is definitely her decendent.

Was there ever such a woman to stir the blood of an Earthman (me) like the incomparable Dejah Thoris?

I was just at our library book sale (and I'm fixin' to go again). I picked up the #2 John Carter: The Gods of Mars novel and I need to go get #3 which I found out I don't have and any other ones I can find to fill in my run! I also found the Savage Pellucidar novel, and a Lin Carter series: Journey to the Underground World, and some Louis L'Amour books. Joy :)

I discovered Dejah Thoris when I was about twelve. The first sight of her immediately interfered with my on-going romance with Pat Savage. No doubt, this was merely the beginning of many complicated problems to come with the real women in my life.
