I've been so distracted lately, I nearly forgot: According to Diamond Comics Distribution's shipping list, the second issue of my Kolchak miniseries, Night Stalker of the Living Dead, is finally hitting comic shops today, June 25th.
After the set-up in the first issue, the story heats up in part two, with newshawk Carl up to his frayed collar in hungry cannibal "zombies," both human and... otherwise.
It's taken a long time to get this series out – I'm actually lettering the third issue this week! – but I've been very pleased with the response I've gotten from Kolchak fans so far. I haven't gotten much feedback, but what I have gotten has been quite complimentary.
I just hope that it sells well enough to be collected into a trade paperback someday... especially if Moonstone printed such a trade on nicer paper stock to better showcase Tim Hamilton and Ian Sokoliwski's artwork and coloring.
But since I've heard nothing about any plans to do so, and Moonstone's not always predictable in that regard, if you're interested in the story, you better pick up the individual issues as they come out. And if you do, I'd love to hear what you think.
I'll have to check and see if the local comics store is carrying it. I've been seeing the original Kolchak series airing on Chiller.
ReplyDeletewas a big kolchak fan, back in the day... have to look for these
ReplyDeletegrats, chris!
Moonstone's website now lists the release date as July 20!
ReplyDeleteMoonstone's website is a mess lately. July 2oth is a Sunday, so that's wrong.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I spoke to the editor today, and barring any unforseen shipping/distribution problems, the book should be in stores today.
Great News Chris - I'll be on the lookout for it tomorrow. I very much enjoyed the first issue and look forward to the 2nd and 3rd. I echo your thought that a trade paperback on high quality stock would look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAny feedback from Moonstone on how well the 1st issue sold. It sold out very quickly around here in central CT. I actually had to go to a store in MA to get my copy.
Nah. They don't tell me nuthin'...
ReplyDeleteIt must be selling well, copies of #2 are shown over at Westfield as in, but in limited quantities. That usually translates as a "we didn't get all of the copies we ordered, but maxed out on our percentage of the print run".
ReplyDelete#1 was great Chris. I'm looking forward to the rest of Carl's adventure in the Heartland.
Never showed up at my comic book shop. Drat!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to hunt it down, but sometimes that's hard to do.
If all else fails, you can order it from Moonstone. I find they're usually quite prompt with mail-order.
ReplyDeleteI did find it at my local store. I enjoyed reading it very much. Can't wait for the conclusion.
